Friendly Park Rules & Regulations (updated May 6, 2025)

I. Hours Of Operation
Monday-Saturday: 11 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Sunday: 12-8:30 p.m.
Concessions Stand:
Monday-Saturday: 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Sunday: 12-8 p.m.
NOTES:
i. The far lane closest to the hill side of the pool will be reserved for adult (18+) lap swimming from 6:00 p.m. to close.
ii. Adults (18+) are welcome for morning lap swimming Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 a.m. to 8 a.m. and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. June through August.
iii. The pool will close early for home swim meets, swim team events (Swim for Cancer fundraiser dinner and end of season banquet) and socials events (adult socials, tween party, etc.)
iv. During swim team season (from pool opening to early July), six lanes of the pool will be reserved for the swim team Monday to Friday from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
v. Abbreviated hours may be necessary after mid-August depending on the availability of lifeguards.
II. Signing in of Members and Registering of Guests
Upon entering the pool area or tennis courts, members are required to sign in and register all guests. A member must give his or her name and address to be checked against the master list of pool members if requested by a member of the pool staff.
III. Operating Rules and Regulations
- No swimmer may use the pool or pool area except during scheduled hours of operation, except for special programs under the supervision of the pool staff.
- Pool staff instruction
- A rest period will be in effect every hour for the last fifteen (15) minutes of each hour. All persons under sixteen (16) years of age must leave the pool during rest period.
- No child under eight (8) years of age may be left at the pool without the direct supervision of a person sixteen (16) years of age or older. Children participating in swim team activities may be left under the coaches’ supervision.
- Children under thirteen (13) years of age may not be in the pool after 6 p.m. unless accompanied by a person sixteen (16) years of age or older who assumes responsibility for the child while he or she is at the pool.
- In the interest of safety, all patrons must adhere to FPI staff (lifeguards, pool management) instruction. This includes, but is not limited to, posted signs, verbal communication, whistle blows, and physical signals. Any direction from a member of FPI staff should be considered essential and warrants immediate compliance without argument.
- Violations of these Operating Rules and Regulations may result in punitive action. Penalties will be initiated at the discretion of the pool staff.
i. A member or guest may be confined to the Penalty Bench for misconduct during a single visit. Penalty Bench confinement may last up to but not exceed fifteen (15) minutes.
ii. A member or guest who continues to violate the rules or who causes a major disruption may be asked to leave and be suspended for the remainder of the day.
iii. Based on recommendations and a written report from the pool staff, the Board of Directors may suspend a member from the use of the pool as necessary to enforce the pool rules for the safe and efficient operation of the pool.
IV. Safety Rules and Regulations
- A lifeguard shall always be on duty (including breaks) at a designated station when the main pool is open to general swimmers. No lifeguard will be stationed at the baby pool.
- Only swimmers able to swim unassisted are allowed use of the diving board. Only one person is allowed on the diving board at a time; the next diver must wait until the previous diver has returned to the surface and cleared the immediate area. Any swimmer struggling to safely swim to the side wall will be denied continued use of the diving board.
There shall be no diving from the side of the pool near the diving board. There shall be no swimming in the area restricted for diving from the diving board. There shall also be no diving at the shallow end of the pool.
- General protective discipline shall be enforced which includes: no throwing balls or other objects into the pool; no running on concrete around the pool area; no pushing or shoving other people into the pool; no dunking other swimmers; no “horseplay” in or around the pool; no scuba (snorkels and fins) equipment, inner tubes, or floats in the pool. Small water balls or small toys will be allowed in the pool only if the lifeguard judges it safe for all the people around the pool area.
- Lifeguards shall direct any swimmer who shows signs of being chilled or having been in the water too long to remain out of the water until the swimmer has been evaluated and deemed safe to go back in the water. It is recommended that no person should stay in the water for more than one (1) hour without a rest period.
- Smoking and vaping is allowed outside the fenced area around the pool only. A receptacle has been provided by the handicap parking area.
- No food or drinks shall be permitted in or at the edge of the pool. All paper and other refuse shall be placed in the trash cans that are provided. No glass containers. No chewing gum while swimming.
- No alcoholic beverages shall be permitted on pool property except during board sanctioned adult functions.
- Each swimmer must rinse off before going into the pool. A quick shower is recommended
- Only approve swimwear is allowed to be in the water (no cutoff jeans, regular cotton shirts, footwear).
- No animals or pets shall be allowed inside the fenced area around the pool. Service animals specifically trained to aid a person with a disability are welcome on the pool deck. Due to public health rules, no animals are allowed in the pool.
- Use of skateboards, roller skates, or roller blades is absolutely forbidden on pool property.
- No admittance will be allowed to the pool area after a person has been in the creek or its surrounding area.
V. Guest Information
A Guest is a non-member. Guests are permitted at any time to the pool, tennis courts, basketball court, and property grounds with payment of the guest fee. However, the use of the facilities by guests should be considered a privilege, not a right. This privilege should be used by members with restraint, particularly on weekends or holidays, as a courtesy to other members and their right to the primary use.
Guest fees are as follows:
Infants (2 years of age or younger): No charge
Weekday guests (Monday-Friday): $4.00/person a day
Weekend guests: $5.00/person a day
Premium Holiday guests: $10.00/person – pre-purchased discounted passes may not be used. (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day)
*Guest passes may be pre-purchased at the Lifeguard Office at a discounted fee of ten (10) passes for $40.00.
- Members must register all guests upon arrival. Members are responsible for making guest fee payments to the manager, lifeguard at the signing desk, at the snack bar or designated representative. Members must remain with their guest(s) while they are at the pool; no guest(s) are permitted on pool property without their hosting member(s).
- Guest fees apply to all non-members on pool property regardless of pool use. Members who enter with guests at the Elam Avenue gate to the tennis courts are responsible for going to the pool area upon arrival to pay guest fees. When the pool is not open, guest fees should be paid the following day. However, no fee will be charged for non-members accompanied by a member for use of the tennis courts during the off-season.
- No guest can attend the pool for more than two (2) days in a row or more than three (3) days in a week - seven (7) days.
- There is a limit of five (5) guests per membership (family) per day. Any more than five (5) guests per membership (family) during a single visit is considered a party. [See Party/ Gathering Rules below]. Multiple memberships (families) should not combine guest groups. Combined guest groups will be considered an unauthorized gathering and will be denied entrance and/or asked to leave by the pool staff.
- A babysitter accompanying a member’s child(ren) will be admitted at no cost when none of the member parent/caregivers are able to be at the pool. Any guests accompanying the babysitter or member’s child(ren) will be charged the applicable guest fee. Once a member parent/caregiver arrives at the pool, the babysitter must leave or will have to pay the guest fee.
- Guests will be permitted for special events as specified in the event announcement (swim team events, synchronized swimming performance, etc.). Members are responsible for guest fees when applicable.
- Party/Gathering Rules
The pool and its surrounding grounds (pool property) may be used by small groups hosted by an adult member during normal operating hours provided the following conditions are met:
i. A request for all parties/gatherings must be submitted to the Pool Manager at least two (2) weeks prior to the date of the event. The Pool Manager will determine the feasibility of the event. All dates will be approved on a first-come basis. The Pool Manager’s decision on the schedule will be final.
ii. Parties must be scheduled between the following times only and may have a maximum duration of two (2) hours limit duration:
Monday−Friday: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. − 8:00 p.m.
Saturday: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 pm. and 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Sunday: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Once the scheduled ending time comes up all guests must leave the pool property.
iii. All fees are paid. Party fees are due no later than the time the host member arrives at the party. The Party fee structure is as follows:
- $25 party fee plus all guest fees for non-members. This applies even when not using the pool’s gazebo during your event.
- Additional fees may apply at the discretion of the pool manager depending on the requirements of the Party.
iv. A guest list must be submitted at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance of the event. Only those guests whose names appear on the pre-submitted guest list will be permitted entry. All guests must be included on the list regardless of their plans to use the pool. Amended guest lists will not be accepted within twenty-four (24) hours of the event.
v. For parties involving children five (5) years of age and under, one (1) adult chaperone will be required for every five (5) children (members or non-members) in attendance.
vi. All fees are paid. Party fees are due no later than the time the host member arrives at the party. The Party fee structure is as follows:
- Guest fees and policies are published and are subject to change at the discretion of the Board of Directors. Pool Management reserves the right to deny individuals Guest Privileges at any time if they are abusing the Guest Policy or not acting within Friendly Park’s Code of Conduct.
VI. Tennis and Pickleball Rules
Please note that the following rules are intended to allow the greatest number of members to play with the least waiting inconvenience. The rules can never cover every situation. Please let courtesy be the deciding factor when in doubt about the rules. Your cooperation is needed to keep litter off the courts.
- The tennis and pickleball courts are for the use of members in good standing and their guests.
- Courts are available on a first-come basis.
- Any member, any age, may use the courts before 5 p.m. on weekdays. Adults (18+) or adults playing with children will have priority to use the courts after 5 p.m. on weekdays. Adults will have priority on weekends and holidays from opening until 5 p.m.
- The tennis and pickleball courts will open and close according to the pool schedule. Members using the tennis and pickleball courts at other times will be required to purchase a court key. Keys may be purchased from the club manager for $5.00 and should be returned upon cancellation of membership.
- Children ten (10) years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult while using the courts.
- Only regulation tennis shoes will be allowed on the courts. All other shoes are strictly forbidden. Traditional tennis clothing is encouraged but not required.
- No activities other than tennis or pickleball will be allowed on the courts, and only those engaged in play should be on the courts, unless otherwise approved by FPI Management.
- The courts will be closed to general play during the following:
i. special activity hours
ii. tournaments
iii. workdays
iv. at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
9. The Tennis and Pickleball Code of Ethics and common courtesy should be observed at all times.
10. The last players using the courts each day are responsible for making sure the gate is locked, and the lights are off.
Violations of these rules, destruction of property, or improper conduct should be reported to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors may suspend the privileges of any member deemed guilty of such infractions.
VII. Code of Conduct
At Friendly Park, Inc., we are committed to a safe and welcoming environment in which we take responsibility for ourselves and each other. We encourage inclusive behavior and common courtesy to foster positive and enjoyable experiences for our members, guests and staff.
If the manager on duty determines that a rule has been intentionally circumvented creating an unpleasant, illegal, or unsafe environment, the manager on duty has the authority to immediately ask the member(s) or guest(s) involved to leave Friendly Park, Inc. premises (pool and grounds) for the day.
VIII. Limit of Liability
All persons using the pool, tennis courts, or other facilities do so at their own risk. Friendly Park, Inc., assumes no responsibility for injury, damage, or loss of property from such use. The responsibility of parents, caregivers, and/or employees who accompany children to the pool continues while the children are in or near the pool.
